Blogger Arraigned for Defaming Gov. Soludo's Family

The Anambra State Police Command has arraigned Mr. Ejik Ofoegbu, who is alleged to be the owner of Igbo Time Magazine, for publishing defamatory reports against the family of Governor Charles Soludo.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this information in a press statement made available to journalists. The arraignment followed a complaint received from the Department of State Services (DSS) in Awka, which prompted a police investigation into the allegations.

The charges against Ofoegbu include the dissemination of false information capable of causing reputational harm and inciting public disaffection. Following the arraignment, the suspect has been remanded in custody at the state command.

The police command has advised members of the public and media practitioners to exercise due diligence in verifying information before publication and to adhere to ethical standards in journalism, in accordance with existing laws governing the dissemination of information.
