Anambra State to Deduct Workers' Salaries Over IPOB Sit-at-Home Directive

Anambra State Government has announced a pro-rata salary payment plan for civil servants in response to the sit-at-home directive enforced by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) across the state. Starting from February 2026, civil servants will be paid based on the number of days worked in a month.

The decision was disclosed by the state government during a retreat held by the Anambra State Executive Council. Governor Chukwuma Soludo's administration aims to address the economic losses incurred due to the sit-at-home protests, which have reportedly cost the state trillions of naira.

The retreat also focused on crafting better strategies for the new term, commencing on March 17, 2026. The government emphasized that workers who fail to work on Mondays will not receive their full salaries, as absenteeism affects the state's productivity and economic progress.
