Anglican Diocese of Ekiti Advocates Fair Political Practices

During the third session of its 20th synod held in Ado Ekiti, the Anglican Diocese of Ekiti, led by Bishop Andrew Ajayi and his wife Bolarinwa Ajayi, called for a level playing field for political parties in Nigeria. The synod's theme was "Children: Heritage of God," coinciding with the diocese's 60th anniversary.

The communiqué, drafted by committee chairman Taiwo Olatunbosun and secretary Emmanuel Ojo, urged the government to prioritize job creation and provide entrepreneurial opportunities for Nigerian youth to reduce unemployment and improve the economy. The synod expressed concern over rising banditry and violence, urging President Bola Tinubu to enhance collaborative strategies to combat these issues.

It welcomed international collaboration, particularly with the United States, for training Nigerian armed forces. The synod also recommended transparency in the removal of fuel subsidies and called for credible electoral processes, urging the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to prosecute electoral offenders.
