Court to Rule on Jurisdiction in Angwa Rukuba Killings Case

The Plateau State High Court is scheduled to rule on jurisdiction concerning the Angwa Rukuba killings, where a violent attack in March 2026 resulted in the deaths of 30 individuals. The court session took place on a Wednesday, with the Plateau State Director of Civil Litigation, Sabo Longji, informing the court that two defendants filed a notice of preliminary objection challenging the court's jurisdiction.

The prosecution, represented by President Justice Gedeliah Fwomyon, filed a counter affidavit on June 29, 2026. The defense, led by M.

Shaba, S. M.

Salihu, and S. M.

Danlami, highlighted that the counter affidavit was filed after the prosecution made a fresh application for an extension of time. The court has adjourned the matter until July 2, 2026, for a hearing on the substantive motion, with the defendants remaining in the custody of the DSS.

The suspects, Adamu Isa, Alhassan Isa, Umar Ibrahim, Auwalu Abubakar, Musa Abubakar Ibrahim, and Ado Ibrahim, face charges including criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, illegal possession of firearms, and illegal dealing in arms and ammunition.
