Plateau State Government Opposes Medical Request for Suspects

The Plateau State Government opposed a motion for medical treatment filed by the defense for four suspects arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in connection with the Angwa Rukuba massacre, which occurred in late March to early April 2026. The suspects, including Adamu Isa, Alhassan Isa, Umar Ibrahim, and Auwalu Abubakar, sought permission to receive treatment at the Jos University Teaching Hospital.

During the hearing at the Plateau State High Court, the prosecution, led by Plateau State Director of Civil Litigation Sabo Longji, argued that the request was a tactic to delay the trial of the terror suspects. Justice Gedeliah Fwomyon reserved the ruling on the motion and described its content as contentious, allowing the defense to provide a telephone number for further communication regarding the ruling date.

The case has been adjourned until July 15, 2026.
