Court Rules on Medical Treatment for Angwa Rukuba Suspect

The prosecution has opposed a motion seeking medical treatment for a suspect arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in relation to the Angwa Rukuba killings. The motion was presented at the Plateau State High Court, where the defense counsel, M.

Salihu, requested permission for the suspect to visit a doctor at the Jos University Teaching Hospital. In response, Sabo Longji, the Plateau State Director of Civil Litigation, filed a counter affidavit urging the court to dismiss the motion, arguing that it was a tactic to delay the trial of the terror suspects.

The court, presided over by Justice Gedeliah Fwomyon, reserved its ruling on the motion, emphasizing the need for justice for the victims of the massacre. The trial is scheduled to continue, with the next hearing set for July 15, 2026.

The Angwa Rukuba attack occurred on Palm Sunday, 2026, resulting in the deaths of 30 individuals, leading to the arrest of several suspects, including Adamu Isa, Alhassan Isa, Umar Ibrahim, Auwalu Abubakar, Musa Abubakar, and Ibrahim Auwalu.
