ADC Protest in Jigawa Demands INEC Recognition of Mark

Supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) protested in Jigawa State on Tuesday, demanding that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognize David Mark as their national leader. The protest occurred amid rising political tensions and intensified leadership disputes within the party ahead of upcoming primaries.

Manniru Aminu, the ADC youth leader, stated that INEC has no authority to interpret court rulings and accused the commission of breaching democratic principles. The group submitted a petition, insisting that the national leadership under David Mark should be constitutionally recognized.

Aminu described INEC's actions as a direct threat to democratic governance and called for the immediate restoration of ADC leadership recognition on INEC's official portal, along with a public apology. Ibrahim Idri, the administrative secretary of INEC in Jigawa State, received the protest but declined to comment further, assuring that the complaints would be forwarded to the national headquarters.

The protest highlights growing concerns regarding party leadership disputes and INEC's role in maintaining public trust in Nigeria's democracy.
