Bauchi Governor Mourns Journalist Jamilu Barau's Death

Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Bala expressed profound sorrow over the passing of freelance journalist and chairman of the Bauchi Media Integrated Group, Mallam Jamilu Barau. The statement, issued by the governor's Senior Special Assistant on Communication, Abdulwahab Muhammad, noted that Barau died after a brief illness.

This loss follows the earlier tragic deaths of two other journalists in the state due to a road accident in February, bringing the total number of journalists lost in Bauchi within a week to three. Governor Bala described the deceased as humble and dedicated to the truth, extending heartfelt condolences to Barau's family and the entire media community.

He emphasized the significant contributions of journalists to public discourse, recalling the recent losses of Channel Television cameraman Kani Ben and Bauchi State Television author Kabiru Ahm Ilelah, who both died in a road crash while covering a project.
