Two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua shared an emotional video with UFC fighter Kamaru Usman, discussing the tragic deaths of his friends, Latif Ayodel and Sina Ghami, in a fatal car accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Nigeria on December 29, 2025. Joshua, who was in a hospital in Lagos at the time, revealed that the news of his friends' passing hadn't fully sunk in.

The video, which went viral on social media, led to criticism of Usman for allegedly leaking the private conversation. The deceased friends were integral members of Joshua's team, with Ghami serving as a strength and conditioning coach and Ayodel as a personal trainer.

Additionally, Joshua's brother, Adedamola Joshua, claimed that the British-born boxer retired from the sport in 2013, though this has not been officially confirmed. The group had reportedly raised $270,000 to build a mosque and borehole in Nigeria in honor of Ayodel.
