APC Aspirants Reject Consensus in Kwara Governorship Race

In Kwara State, at least 15 aspirants have purchased forms to contest for the governorship position under the All Progressives Congress (APC), directly challenging the consensus arrangement proposed by the state's Governor Abdulrasaq Abdulraheem. These aspirants have expressed their determination to contest against the governor's anointed successor.

The situation reflects a broader trend across several states, including Adamawa, Oyo, Yobe, Bauchi, and Nasarawa, where aspirants are also rejecting consensus decisions. Notably, former Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba, who submitted his form in Yobe State, stated he would not step down for any predetermined candidate.

Other aspirants, such as Kashim Musa Tumsah and Mathia Byuan from Benue State, have similarly vowed to contest vigorously. The APC has extended the sale of forms to accommodate more aspirants, with a total of 81 tickets purchased across 28 states, including 17 first-term governors seeking re-election.
