APC Chairman Engages Bala Mohammed Amid Defection Talks

On Wednesday, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) met with Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed at the Government House in Bauchi. This meeting comes amid reports of Governor Mohammed's plans to defect from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Accompanied by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, the discussions were held behind closed doors, and no party representatives addressed journalists afterward. The visit is part of efforts to persuade Mohammed to reconsider his decision, which has been attributed to ongoing crises within the PDP.

Mohammed expressed that despite attempts at reconciliation within the PDP, the situation remains serious, prompting him to explore options, including the ADC. He noted that the APC's influence has made him feel unwelcome, leading to his preference for the ADC over the APC.

The APC has indicated a willingness to engage with Mohammed, but he has expressed a clear preference for the ADC.
