APC Chieftain Defends Senator Yari Against Gold Seizure Claims

Akinjid Akinola, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), issued a statement on Tuesday dismissing claims that Senator Abdulaziz Yari, representing Zamfara West, was involved in an alleged gold seizure by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Akinola characterized the allegations as a deliberate attempt by political opponents to damage Yari's reputation and undermine his record of public service.

He emphasized that Yari is well-regarded in Zamfara State, where residents recognize his contributions to improving their lives through various initiatives. Akinola argued that the claims are part of a misinformation campaign aimed at harming Yari's public profile and that the EFCC has not identified Yari as being connected to the alleged incident.

He asserted that the ongoing efforts by malicious actors to spread falsehoods about Yari's integrity will ultimately fail.
