APC Clears Aspirants for Cross River Senatorial Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully cleared aspirants for the senatorial primaries in Cross River State after conducting a screening exercise. The party's national secretariat announced the outcomes in a statement made available on Monday.

The screening ensured compliance with party guidelines, allowing qualified aspirants to proceed to the primaries. In the Cross River Central senatorial district, incumbent Senator Eteng Jonah Williams is seeking a third term, while Oden Ewa, who has special duties in intergovernmental affairs, is also in the race.

The competition is described as strong, with various blocs within the party backing different candidates. In the northern senatorial district, Jarigb Agom Jarigb was cleared alongside other aspirants, setting the stage for a competitive primary.

In the Cross River South district, former aspirant Asuquo Ekpenyoung is among those approved to advance to the primaries. Notably, some aspirants, including Cecilia Omoniya, Dr.

Johna Onyi Agba, and Mari Ogoba, were not cleared for the primaries.
