APC Declares Obafemi Hamzat Lagos Governorship Candidate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially declared Obafemi Hamzat as its governorship candidate for the 2027 elections in Lagos State. The declaration occurred at the APC secretariat in Ogba on Thursday, where the party emphasized the peaceful and transparent nature of the electoral process.

Hamzat secured 657,917 votes, with 657,974 accredited votes cast. The announcement was made by Gen.

Jon Temlong (retd), the chairman of the APC national governorship election committee, in the presence of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other party leaders, including former Deputy Governor Femi Pedro and Senator Ganiyu Solomon. Hamzat expressed gratitude to the party leadership, particularly thanking Governor Sanwo-Olu for his support.

He acknowledged the contributions of the National Assembly members and the Electoral Committee, and he humbly accepted the candidacy for the upcoming elections scheduled for May 21, 2026.
