APC to Hold Ondo Congress Despite Court Restraint

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced its intention to hold a state congress in Ondo State on March 3, 2026, despite a restraining order issued by the Federal High Court. The court, presided over by Justice Toyin Adegok, had nullified the ward and local government congresses held from February 18 to 21, 2026, and instructed the APC to refrain from conducting any further congresses until the substantive suit is resolved.

The party's vice chairman for the Southwest, Isaac Kekemek, stated that the party was not aware of the court order, as they had not received official notification from the national headquarters. The APC's Ondo State chapter, represented by public secretary Alex Kalejay, confirmed that the congress would proceed as planned.

The court's ruling was in response to an ex parte application filed by Lawrence Adebayo and 7,427 other aggrieved APC members, which sought to restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing the congresses conducted in February.
