APC Denies Endorsement of Senator Alli for Oyo Governorship

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially denied claims that Senator Sharafadeen Alli has been endorsed as the party's candidate for the Oyo State governorship election scheduled for 2027. The party described these claims as mere media speculation and urged members of the public to disregard such rumors.

This clarification followed reports suggesting that an endorsement occurred during a meeting at the residence of President Bola Tinubu. However, aides to the president, including those from the Ministry of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and Otunba Femi Awogboro, confirmed that no such meeting took place, stating that the gathering was simply a Sallah visit.

Olawal Sadar, the APC's public secretary in Oyo State, emphasized that the party has not selected any candidate for the upcoming governorship race and is currently focused on its upcoming internal activities, including a zonal convention in Lagos and a national convention in Abuja. The denial comes amid increasing political maneuvering ahead of the 2027 elections, with several aspirants positioning themselves within the APC.
