APC Eyes Osun Success After Ekiti Win, Party Officials Declare

The All Progressives Congress is banking on momentum from its recent Ekiti State victory to secure control of Osun State in the coming governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026. Senior APC figure Olatunbosun Oyintiloye made the declaration to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, framing Governor Biodun Oyebanji's triumph as a blueprint for what the party expects to achieve in Osun.

Oyebanji secured 319,224 votes in his re-election contest, defeating his Peoples Democratic Party opponent Wole Oluyed. The margin of victory was described by party officials as unprecedented, signalling public endorsement of the governor's first-term performance.

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, also speaking through official channels, extended congratulations to his Ekiti counterpart and characterised the outcome as a validation of the APC's record in the southwest region. Oyintiloye told reporters that the party's success in Ekiti demonstrates strong grassroots support and internal party unity, both factors he argued would prove decisive in Osun.

He stressed the importance of continued engagement with voters at the community level and maintained that the APC's performance in the state administration justifies public confidence in its continued governance. The APC's confidence in replicating the Ekiti result comes as the party prepares its machinery for the Osun contest.

Party officials characterised the Ekiti victory as a clear signal of popular backing for APC governance and cited the developmental focus of Oyebanji's administration as evidence that voters reward the party's performance record.
