APC Faces Backlash Over Controversial Candidates List

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is experiencing significant backlash regarding its candidates' list for the 2027 general elections, which has raised concerns about the integrity of its selection process. Following the party's state chapters releasing the list, there were mixed reactions, particularly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) warned against accepting names not emerging from the primaries.

The APC's National Working Committee (NWC) acted on recommendations from its appeal committee to replace several primary winners, restoring tickets to incumbents like Emmanuel Udende and Sundai Karimi, which sparked outrage among party members. The People's Democratic Party (PDP) condemned the APC's actions as evidence of deepening internal crises and a lack of transparency.

PDP's National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Moham, stated that the party is open to welcoming politicians who feel unfairly treated. The Labour Party (LP) also criticized the APC's move, asserting that the candidates emerging from valid primaries should not be replaced.
