Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Rejoins APC, Party Flag Hoisted at Government House

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party's flag was hoisted at the Kano Government House on Monday. This move comes after Governor Yusuf announced his resignation from the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) to realign politically, sparking speculation about his future ahead of the 2023 general elections.

His return to the APC is seen as a strategic decision to strengthen collaboration with the federal government. The Governor's return to the APC was confirmed by the party's national leader, Abdullahi Ganduje, who is expected to return from London on Monday to receive Yusuf back into the party.

Governor Yusuf's spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, stated that the decision to return to the APC was based on the need for unity, development, and cooperation with the federal government. Governor Yusuf is set to register as an APC member alongside 22 members of the Kano State House of Assembly, eight members of the House of Representatives, and 44 local government chairmen.

The Governor is also expected to officially kick off the APC's electronic registration exercise in Kano.
