APC Elects New Executives in Enugu and Bayelsa Congresses

The All Progressives Congress (APC) conducted state congresses in Enugu and Bayelsa, electing new executive committees through consensus arrangements. The Enugu congress, held at Okpara Square, resulted in the emergence of Martin Chukwunwike as the substantive chairman, with attendance from Governor Peter Mbah, deputy members, and national lawmakers including Senators Kevin Chukwu and Osita Ngwu.

Mbah described the exercise as a model of democracy aimed at broadening the party's base. The congress marked the completion of a reconciliation process to unify splinter groups within the party.

In Bayelsa, the congress took place at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Yenagoa, producing a 37-member executive committee led by Warman Ogoriba. Governor Douye Diri emphasized the historical peace of this congress, contrasting it with previous conflict-ridden exercises.

The new executives were urged to maintain unity ahead of future elections, with Denni Otiotio commending the governor's leadership in reconciling party factions.
