APC Leads FCT Polls Amid Low Voter Turnout

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently leading the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) polls as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collates results from the elections held yesterday. The elections were characterized by low voter turnout, with various political parties participating, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and others.

Prof. Joash Amupitan, the chairman of INEC, expressed satisfaction with the orderly conduct of the elections, despite some logistical delays.

Mr. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, noted that the elections were conducted without a curfew and described the process as efficient and peaceful.

Preliminary results from the Nyanya Ward indicate that the APC is ahead in the chairmanship and councillorship races, although the ADC claimed victory in some units. The overall voter turnout was low, particularly in urban areas, which has raised concerns among opposition supporters about potential gains in future elections.
