Senator Gaya Defects from APC to ADC in Kano State

Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kano State. His resignation letter, dated April 5, 2026, was addressed to the APC ward chairman of Gaya Local Government Area and takes immediate effect.

Gaya expressed his decision was made after extensive consultations and reflects a commitment to serve the best interests of his constituents. He extended his gratitude to the APC for the camaraderie and cooperation experienced during his tenure.

In a statement to journalists, Gaya confirmed his intention to work closely with ADC leaders, including Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, to strengthen the party's success in Kano State. This move follows Gaya's earlier departure from the APC's gubernatorial candidacy race, which saw Nasiru Gawuna leave the party the previous week.
