APC Members Defect to PDP in Kwara Ahead of 2027 Elections

Hundreds of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday, ahead of the 2027 general elections. The defectors came from various wards, including Shawo Central Ward, which is the political base of Senator Lola Ashiru, representing Kwara South in the National Assembly, and the ward of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Ezekiel Adepoju, the leader of the defectors, expressed confidence in the leadership of former Senate President and PDP chieftain Bukola Saraki, stating that the PDP provides a better platform for the political interests of Offa and Kwara State. Following the defection, a solidarity rally was held by women in Shawo Central Ward, who celebrated the move by singing traditional songs and pledging to mobilize voters for the PDP in the upcoming elections.

This development is politically significant due to Shawo Central Ward's association with Senator Ashiru.
