APC Loses Members to PDP in Kwara Ahead of 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has faced a notable grassroots setback as members from Shawo Central Ward in Offa Local Government Area defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in anticipation of the 2027 general elections. The defection was formally announced by Comrade Ezekiel Adepoju, who indicated that the leadership of former Senate President Dr Abubakar had successfully persuaded the members.

The defectors expressed their belief that the PDP represents a more favorable platform for the political future of both Offa and Kwara State. Following the declaration, a large number of women from the ward participated in a solidarity rally, singing traditional songs and pledging their commitment to support the PDP's electoral success, particularly under the leadership of Bukola Saraki.

Political analysts have noted the significance of this defection from Shawo Central Ward, especially given its ties to Senator Lola Ashiru, highlighting the intensifying competition for grassroots loyalty in the region as the 2027 elections approach.
