Four Kano Lawmakers Switch from NNPP to ADC

Four members of the House of Representatives from Kano State have officially defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The lawmakers involved are Sani Wakili representing Minjibir/Ungogo Federal Constituency, Muktar Zakari from Tarauni Federal Constituency, Umar Datti representing Kura/Madobi/Garun Mallam Federal Constituency, and Abdulhakeem Ado from Wudil/Garko Federal Constituency.

Their defection was announced via a letter read during a plenary session on Wednesday by Speaker Tajudeen Abba. Additionally, two lawmakers from other states, Kabiru Amadu from Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency in Zamfara State and Emeka Chinedu Ahiazu from Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency in Imo State, also switched parties to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC), respectively.

This trend of party switching is indicative of internal issues within the former parties and is part of a broader political realignment as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
