Osun APC Rejects Controversial Motor Park Regulation Bill

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has publicly rejected the Integrated Transport, Traffic and Park Management System Bill, labeling it “dead on arrival.” This statement, signed by APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi, argues that the Osun State House of Assembly lacks the constitutional authority to regulate motor parks. The APC contends that the bill contradicts Section 7(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, which assigns the management of public motor parks to democratically elected local government councils.

The party warns that the bill could disturb public peace and is a product of an illegitimate process initiated by Governor Ademola Adeleke. In response, the Osun State House of Assembly, through Chief Press Secretary Olamide Tiamiyu, criticized the APC's interpretation of the Constitution, asserting that the state has the legislative competence to establish and regulate local government functions, including motor parks.
