APC Postpones Kwara Guber Primary as 8 Aspirants Withdraw

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its governorship primary in Kwara State, originally scheduled for May 21, 2026, to May 22, 2026. This decision was confirmed by the state party chairman, Princ Sundai Fagbemi.

The postponement comes after eight aspirants withdrew from the race, endorsing Ambassador Yahaya Seriki as their preferred candidate. The aspirants who stepped down include Senator Saliu Mustapha, Alhaji Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, Bob Engin, Femi Sanni, Dr.

Salako Muyideen Oluwatoyin, Captain Ahmad Mahmoud, Professor Wale Sulaiman, Dr. Toyin Alabi, and Hajia Aisha Ahman Patigi.

Their withdrawal has created a shift in support dynamics within the party, as they pledged to back Seriki. The announcement of the postponement occurred just hours before the primary was set to commence, indicating a significant change in the political landscape of the APC in Kwara State.
