APC Postpones Kwara Governorship Primary Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) national leadership has announced the postponement of the Kwara governorship primary election, which was set for Thursday. The postponement was confirmed by Princ Sunday Fagbemi, the state party chairman, who stated that the leadership ordered the cancellation without providing specific reasons.

The primary was initially planned to occur just hours before the scheduled start. Notably, Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, who is the preferred successor of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, had previously engaged with other aspirants and stakeholders to unify support for his candidacy.

Several aspirants, including Dr. Salako Oluwatoyin, Captain Ahmad Mahmoud, and Professor Wale Sulaiman, had pledged their support for Seriki.

The primary election was expected to involve participation from APC members across various wards in Kwara State, with the process aimed at strengthening party cohesion.
