APC Primaries: Akume’s Wife, Mark’s Daughter Win Tickets

In the recent APC primaries held in Benue State, Regina Akume, wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, secured the party's ticket for the Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency. David Mark's daughter also emerged victorious in the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency.

The primaries, conducted across 11 federal constituencies and 23 local government areas, saw six serving lawmakers and five loyalists to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, lose their bids. Notable losses included Dickson Tarkghir, who was defeated by Engr.

Terfa Ikya in the Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency. Other incumbents, such as Asema Achado and Sekav Iortyom, also faced defeats.

The primaries were marred by incidents of result snatching, which were later brought under control. Alhaji Sabiu Mahuta, the chairman of the National Assembly primaries committee in Benue State, declared the highest scorers as winners and urged all contestants to embrace the outcomes in good faith.
