APC Primaries: Governor Bago Advocates Consensus in Niger

Governor Bago of Niger State stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is working on a consensus arrangement for the upcoming primaries. He emphasized that while consensus cannot be built entirely, there will be a direct primary mode for elections.

Bago revealed that the people of Niger State contributed N150 million (approximately $50 million) to purchase nomination forms, highlighting the community's involvement. He expressed excitement about the contributions, which included amounts ranging from N1,000 to N2,000, and mentioned that an additional N100 million was gathered.

In a related development, former Bauchi State Governor Muham Abubakar returned to Abuja to express his interest in contesting for the governorship again after nearly eight years away from the political scene. Abubakar indicated his intention to revive institutions in Bauchi State and stated a preference for consensus in the primary mode.
