Niger Farmers Back Umar Bago for 2027 Governorship

Farmers in Niger State have purchased nomination forms for Umar Bago, a member of the House of Representatives for Bida, Gbako, and Katcha Federal Constituency, to express their interest in his candidacy for the governorship in the 2027 general elections. This gesture was unveiled in Abuja on Thursday and reflects the farmers' appreciation for Bago's unprecedented investments and attention to agriculture during his current administration.

Idu Abdullahi, a representative of the farmers, praised Bago as a strong ally for farmers across the state. Nura Hashimu emphasized the lawmaker's direct interventions in agricultural development, including the construction of irrigation facilities and the creation of opportunities for women in agriculture.

The farmers' endorsement is also supported by Muham Usman, the vice chairman of the Poultry Association of Nigeria, who noted the transformative impact of Bago's agricultural policies. The initiative aims to further strengthen Niger State's agricultural value chain and enhance rural livelihoods.
