Ogbeide-Ihama Wins APC Primary for Edo South Senate

Omorogi Ogbeide-Ihama emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for the Edo South district after defeating Neda Imasuen and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in the primary election held on May 18, 2026. Ogbeide-Ihama received a total of 27,154 votes, while Imasuen scored 13,580 votes, and Ize-Iyamu obtained 6,785 votes.

The results were announced by Moham Kabiru Ajana, the chairman of the committee overseeing the election, which took place across 77 wards in seven local government areas. Ogbeide-Ihama won in all seven local governments, with notable votes including 3,950 in Oredo, 4,226 in Egor, and 5,517 in Ikpoba-Okha.

Previously a member of the House of Representatives representing Oredo Federal Constituency from 2015 to 2023 on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Ogbeide-Ihama defected to the APC in June 2025 in preparation for the 2024 governorship election in Edo State.
