Confusion in APC Primaries as Ize-Iyamu Claims Victory

The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries in Edo State were marred by confusion and conflicting claims of victory. Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu was officially declared the winner by Abubakar Muhammad Kabiru, the chief returning officer, with a total of 33,399 votes.

Omoregi Ogbeid-Ihama, who claimed to have the highest votes, received 12,560 votes, while Neda Imasuen garnered 5,107 votes. The primaries were conducted across seven local government areas, with Ogbeid-Ihama alleging support from Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, for his candidacy.

Mohammad Ajana, the chairman of the primary election committee, confirmed the results, which showed Ize-Iyamu leading with a significant margin. The event was observed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Ize-Iyamu expressed gratitude for the support he received, promising to represent the district effectively in the upcoming general elections.
