APC Announces Procedures for 2026 Presidential Primary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially released the procedures for its presidential primary, set to take place on May 23, 2026. The announcement was made by Ajibola Basiru, who noted that the party will select its candidate through direct primaries held in 8,809 wards across Nigeria.

Only registered party members will be eligible to vote for presidential aspirants in these wards. The results from the wards will be collated at the local government level, which comprises 774 local governments.

State coordinators appointed by the party will oversee the collation process. Additionally, the party has appointed Ayim Pius Anyim as the chairman of the presidential election committee, with Ken Nnamani, Udo Udoma, and others as members.

The procedures were communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in a cover letter dated May 15, 2026. The APC aims to ensure a transparent and organized primary election process.
