APC Tickets to be Based on Merit and Loyalty, Says Aiyedatiwa

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will select candidates for the upcoming elections based on merit and loyalty. Speaking at a stakeholders' meeting in Akure on Friday, Aiyedatiwa warned aspirants against desperate politics ahead of the party's primaries scheduled for next month.

He emphasized that the electoral process has begun, with the collection of nomination forms and necessary screenings in progress. Aiyedatiwa advised aspirants not to disrupt party unity if they are not chosen, highlighting that opportunities will arise for those who demonstrate merit and loyalty.

The governor noted that the party may adopt either direct primaries or consensus arrangements, depending on eventual agreements. He urged aspirants to respect party decisions and maintain discipline and unity within the APC.

Babatunde Kolawole, the APC state chairman, reaffirmed the party's commitment to Aiyedatiwa's leadership and urged aspirants to accept the outcomes maturely, reiterating support for President Bola Tinubu.
