APC Wins Five of Six Area Councils in FCT Elections
In the recent area council elections held on February 21, 2023, the All Progressives Congress (APC) solidified its dominance in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by winning five out of six area councils. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results on February 26, 2023.
Mohammed Kasim of the PDP was declared the winner of the Gwagwalada area council chairmanship with 22,165 votes, defeating APC's Yahaya Shehu, who garnered 17,788 votes. Daniel Nuhu of the APC won the Kwali area council chairmanship with 17,032 votes against PDP's Haruna Pai, who received 8,575 votes.
Joshua Ishaku of the APC was declared the winner in Bwari with 18,466 votes. Zakka Christoph of the APC won the AMAC chairmanship with 40,295 votes, while Abdullahi Abubakar of the APC secured the Abaji area council chairmanship with 15,535 votes.
Samuel Shekwolo of the APC also won the Kuje area council election.
