APC Criticized for Using Police to Guard Billboards

Demola Olarewaju, an aide to Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of misusing police resources. He stated that the APC has chosen to deploy police officers to guard campaign billboards for Bola Tinubu rather than to protect the citizens of Nigeria.

Olarewaju's comments came in response to reports from Edo State, where police were allegedly assigned to safeguard Tinubu's campaign billboards from vandalism around the Ring Road local area. He criticized this approach, asserting that Tinubu's stance on political power should not depend on police presence and warned against allowing such practices to continue in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
