APC Risks 2027 Loss if Governorship Ticket Zones to North

Princ Haliru Dantsoho, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, expressed concerns regarding the party's strategy for the 2027 governorship election. He warned that if the APC decides to zone the governorship ticket to Kwara North, it would likely lead to a loss in the election.

Dantsoho spoke during a recent TVC Primetime program, explaining that the party must build consensus rather than confrontational approaches, especially in light of social media agitation. He noted that Kwara Central remains a significant voting bloc and that ignoring this reality could be detrimental.

Dantsoho also referenced the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which had previously attempted to zone the ticket to Kwara North in 2023 but failed to garner support. He highlighted the sharp divisions among aspirants from Kwara North and urged the APC to avoid a repeat of past mistakes to strengthen its chances in the upcoming election.
