APC Wins Rescheduled Zamfara Assembly By-election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Kamilu Saidu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the rescheduled Zamfara Assembly by-election in the South State Constituency. The Returning Officer, Lawal Sa'adu, announced that Saidu garnered 2,385 votes in the supplementary election, defeating Muhammad Lawal Kurya of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 194 votes.

The total votes secured by the APC were 2,389, while the PDP polled 194 votes across the constituency. The declaration followed a supplementary election in two registration areas and five polling units after the initial election was declared inconclusive.

The rerun was deemed necessary due to the margin of votes being less than the number of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected in the affected polling units.
