APC Engages Bala Mohammed Amid Defection Speculation

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is actively engaging with Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State, amid speculation regarding his potential defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). A delegation from APC, which included Abba Kabir Yusuf, met with Governor Mohammed in a closed-door session but did not disclose the details of their discussions.

This visit has intensified speculation about APC's efforts to convince the governor to remain with them instead of moving to ADC, which he has indicated as a possible destination. Earlier, Governor Mohammed, who is the current chairman of the PDP Governors' Forum, announced his intention to leave the PDP.

The ADC delegation, led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir David Lawal, has also been in discussions with the governor, although no final decision has been made. David Mark, the national chairman of ADC, formally invited Governor Mohammed to join the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasizing the need for unity among opposition parties to strengthen democracy in Nigeria.
