APGA Primaries Set for May 23, 2026, in Anambra State

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is set to hold its primaries on May 23, 2026, in Anambra State, where prominent politicians are vying for candidacy. APGA has held governorship positions in the state for 20 years, facing challenges from the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Key aspirants include Stella Oduah, a former aviation minister, Chief Primus Odili, a grassroots politician, and Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, a medical doctor and former advisor to Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Oduah's candidacy is controversial due to her recent conviction in a fraud case. The primaries are expected to be fiercely contested, with candidates for 30 state constituencies, 11 federal constituencies, and three senatorial zones.

The party has warned against corrupt practices during the screening process for aspirants. Additionally, there are concerns regarding security in the region, as recent political meetings have been marred by violence.
