Appeal Court Confirms Nenadi Usman as Labour Party Leader

On Tuesday, the Appeal Court in Abuja affirmed Senator Nenadi Usman's leadership of the Labour Party (LP), dismissing an appeal filed by former national chairman Julius Abure. A three-member panel, led by Justice Peter Lifu, upheld a prior judgment from the Federal High Court that had already recognized Usman as the legitimate leader of the LP.

The court noted that Abure's appeal lacked merit and constituted an abuse of court process, as the Supreme Court had previously settled the leadership dispute on April 4, 2025. The court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Usman as the national chairman of the Labour Party, emphasizing the necessity of providing leadership in the party.

The court also imposed a cost of N10 million on Abure for wasting judicial time, highlighting the finality of the Supreme Court's decision regarding the leadership issue.
