Labour Party's Usman Celebrates Appeal Court Victory

Usman, the interim national chairman of the Labour Party, expressed gratitude for the Appeal Court ruling that favored the party, describing it as a triumph for democracy and justice. In an interview on Wednesday, she acknowledged the judiciary's support during the party's legal battles.

Usman urged Nigerians not to generalize perceptions of the judiciary, noting that individual cases may vary. She addressed the internal crisis within the Labour Party, highlighting multiple lawsuits filed across jurisdictions aimed at destabilizing the party.

Usman dismissed claims of a lack of leadership acceptance within the party, citing a recent verification by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that showed participation from members across factions. She announced plans to commence an internal process to strengthen unity, including ward congresses and a national convention.

Usman expressed optimism about reconciling aggrieved members and stressed the importance of political parties strengthening internal mechanisms for dispute resolution. She pointed to Abia State Governor Alex Otti as an example of the party's ideals in practice.
