Appeal Court Sets Date for Legal Battle Over PDP National Convention

The Appeal Court in Abuja has scheduled a hearing for February 12, 2026, to address the legal disputes arising from the PDP National Convention set for November 15-16, 2025. The court, led by Justice Moham Danjuma, will examine eight appeals challenging the convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

These appeals stem from three different judgments delivered during the controversial convention. The legal battle involves factions led by Tanimu Turaki and Seyi Makinde, seeking control of the party against loyalists of Nyesom Wike.

The conflicts escalated as two federal high court judges issued conflicting orders, restraining the PDP from proceeding with the convention. The disputes also involve allegations of exclusion from party positions, with former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido claiming he was barred from contesting the party's chairmanship.

The court is set to definitively rule on these matters during the hearing on February 12.
