PDP Factions Allowed to Settle Convention Dispute Amicably

On Wednesday, the Court of Appeal in Ibadan, led by Justice Biobel Georgewil, granted the People's Democratic Party (PDP) factions the opportunity to settle their convention dispute out of court. The case, which had been brought to the court regarding the validity of the PDP's convention held in Ibadan, was adjourned sine die to allow the parties involved to pursue a peaceful resolution.

Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court had previously ruled that the convention was valid, supporting the decisions made by the party's disciplinary committee. The court urged the parties to consider the timeline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 general elections.

Counsel for the parties expressed a willingness to settle the matter amicably, and the court advised that they report back on the progress of the settlement. The case's adjournment means that no further comments will be made that could prejudice the ongoing settlement discussions.
