PDP Sets March 2026 Dates for National Convention After Court Victory

The People Democratic Party (PDP) has scheduled its national convention for March 28-29, 2026, in Abuja following a recent court victory amidst the party's leadership crisis. The decision was made during the 105th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.

The convention aims to provide a fresh opportunity to elect new national officials and stabilize the party's internal structure. The NEC emphasized that the decision remains legally binding, praising the judiciary for upholding the rule of law.

The Federal High Court in Ibadan affirmed the legality of the PDP's leadership arrangements, ensuring recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The NEC approved the convention dates and extended the tenure of the national caretaker committee until the convention is conducted.

Members were urged to maintain discipline and unity, with a focus on rebuilding the party's strength and competitiveness. The convention is crucial for strengthening internal democracy, restoring confidence among party supporters, and preparing for future electoral success.
