PDP BoT Meets After Court Upholds Convention Restraint

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Tanimu Turaki, held an emergency meeting in Abuja on Tuesday following a significant Court of Appeal judgment. This judgment upheld a Federal High Court ruling that restrains the PDP from conducting its national convention.

The meeting was attended by notable figures including Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and former Senate President Adolphus Wabara. Wabara remarked that the judgment presents an opportunity for the PDP to start afresh, signaling a new chapter for the party.

Earlier, Turaki's caretaker committee welcomed the court's decision, confirming the validity of their leadership. The PDP plans to hold its national convention later this month.

In response to the ruling, the Turaki faction announced that its legal team would approach the Supreme Court to challenge the judgment.
