Arewa Group Criticizes Sultan Over Selective Silence

The Arewa Peace Development Forum (APDF) has publicly criticized the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, for what they describe as his "selective silence" on significant national issues, particularly concerning former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. The group expressed concern over the Sultan's failure to address the prolonged legal battles faced by Dasuki, who has been embroiled in legal issues, and the situation surrounding El-Rufai, who they noted should be formally charged or released.

The APDF, coordinated by Malam Ibrahim Moham Musawa, emphasized the Sultan's unique position as a respected traditional and religious leader, which requires him to maintain a balanced and neutral stance, especially on politically sensitive matters. They warned that perceived selective silence could erode public trust in traditional institutions and called for the Sultan to clarify his position on these issues to reflect broader national interests amid heightened political discourse in the country.
