Arewa Think Tank Supports Tinubu's New IGP Appointment

The Arewa Think Tank, represented by Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, praised President Bola Tinubu for his strategic decision to appoint Tunji Disu as the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) following the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun. Yakubu described this move as a bold step aimed at strengthening national security and enhancing professionalism within the police hierarchy.

He noted that Tinubu's actions demonstrate a commitment to reforming the Nigeria Police Force for greater efficiency and accountability. The Arewa Think Tank pledged full support for the new police chief, urging him to remain steadfast in upholding the rule of law.

Yakubu highlighted Disu's extensive experience, having joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 and served in various capacities, including as the head of the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos and the Command Intelligence Response Team in Rivers State. The appointment will be formally considered by the Nigeria Police Council and transmitted to the Senate for confirmation in line with the provisions of the Police Act 2020.
