Argentine Footballer Loses Family in Venezuela Earthquake

Argentine footballer Luca Trejo, who plays for Club Sport Marítimo La Guaira, suffered a personal tragedy when his wife Yanina and their two children, Aarón and Ainhoa, were confirmed dead following a powerful earthquake that struck Venezuela last week. Trejo had been attending a training camp in Caracas when the twin earthquakes hit the coastal state of La Guaira, one of the worst-affected areas.

After the disaster, he traveled 18 miles north to his hometown, where he found his beachfront residence completely destroyed. Trejo's brother-in-law, Ricardo Ardil, expressed the family's devastation, stating that nothing remained of their home.

Trejo joined rescue workers in the search for survivors, appealing for heavy machinery to expedite the efforts. The club confirmed the deaths and expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

The earthquakes, described as a rare doublet by the United States Geological Survey, resulted in over 1,400 deaths, with thousands still missing, marking one of the deadliest natural catastrophes in Venezuela's history.
